00The
historic or sentimental value of an old family photo is immeasurable.
But the ravages of time and our unwitting abuse can render our photos
nearly invisible. How we display and store photographs determine
their longevity. Displaying old photos in direct sunlight or near
a fireplace; storing them in the attics extreme temperatures
or the dampness of a basement can cause the image to fade or darken;
the emulsion to separate from the paper allowing the image to flake
off; or damage from mold or fungus.
00Black and White Overnight offers photographic
restorations, enhancements and retouching to family historians, historical
societies and museums. We copy and repair images from prints, tintypes,
ambrotypes, daguerreotypes and others. Restorations are done in our
lab by an experienced, professional artist. Our artist works closely
with you to ensure the historical accuracy and artistic integrity of
the image and final print. From a negative of the restoration, a final
print is made on traditional (RC) or archival fiber paper. Archival
prints can be toned in selenium, brown or sepia on cool or warm fiber
paper.
00Upon completion we send you: your original;
a copy negative; a restoration negative (make more prints to share);
and your final print. As closely as possible, the final archival print
matches your photograph in tone and image quality as it was when originally
printed years ago.
